Segal McCambridge in Roseland, NJ seeks an experienced Legal Assistant to support a busy General Liability litigation practice. This remote-first role offers the flexibility to work from home, with potential in-office days as needed.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in civil litigation, strong organizational and communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic filing systems. NJ/NY court familiarity is a plus for this fast-paced firm.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or similar in civil litigation.
Experience supporting attorneys handling General Liability or civil defense matters.
Knowledge of NJ/NJ State and Federal court procedures and rules.
Experience with NJ ECourts and NYSCEF and other electronic filing systems.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide high-level legal and administrative support to a team of attorneys handling General Liability and civil defense matters.
Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, discovery, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
Prepare and file legal documents with state and federal courts and electronic filing systems.
Coordinate service of pleadings and other legal documents.
Maintain attorney calendars and coordinate court appearances, depositions, and meetings.
Assist attorneys with case management and preparation for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
Organize exhibits, coordinate witness schedules, and manage trial-related materials.
Open new files and maintain accurate electronic and paper files.
Enter attorney billable time accurately into the firm’s timekeeping system.
Monitor deadlines and ensure tasks are completed on time.
Work collaboratively with attorneys, legal assistants, paralegals, and staff.
