Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Legal Advisor to support a growing portfolio of wind and solar energy projects. The role is fully remote in South Africa, requiring expertise in project finance, construction law, and regulatory compliance within the energy sector.

You will advise on permitting, land acquisition, financing, construction, and operation, coordinating with external counsel and government authorities as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of post-qualification experience in project development, infrastructure, or energy law.
• Strong track record with commercial contracts for large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of energy sector regulations and policy frameworks in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice across all phases of renewable energy project development, including site selection and land acquisition.
• Review and negotiate EPC, O&M, and PPAs.
• Advise on project financing structures and related documents.
• Ensure compliance with national and provincial environmental, energy, and land use regulations.
• Conduct due diligence for new projects and acquisitions.
• Manage external counsel and regulatory interactions as needed.
