Placements24 is assisting a dynamic renewable energy company in recruiting an In-House Counsel with a strong focus on Energy Law to join our Welkom-based team. The role provides expert guidance on project development, regulatory affairs, and energy contracts within the South African market.

The successful candidate will have a LLB and admission as SA attorney/advocate, at least 5 years in energy or regulatory law, and proven drafting and negotiation skills.

Qualifikationen

• LLB degree or equivalent.
• Admission as Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 5 years of legal experience in energy or regulatory law.
• In-depth knowledge of South African energy legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with renewable energy projects (solar, wind) is highly desirable.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills in energy context.

Aufgaben

• Provide legal advice on energy project development, financing, and operations.
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts related to energy generation, transmission, and distribution.
• Ensure compliance with national and provincial energy regulations, environmental laws, and permitting requirements.
• Advise on regulatory approvals and engage with energy regulatory bodies.
• Manage legal risks associated with energy sector operations and transactions.
• Conduct legal research on evolving energy policies and market trends.
• Support the business development team in structuring new energy projects.
• Liaise with external counsel on energy law matters, including litigation.
• Develop and implement internal compliance programs for the energy business unit.
• Assist with corporate governance matters related to energy sector entities.
