Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, develop and scale distributed systems in a remote Canada setting. You will own technical strategy, drive critical projects, and collaborate with product, design and analytics to deliver high-impact financial software.

The role requires 8+ years in backend design with Python or Kotlin, and hands-on experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with highly available distributed systems and modern cloud stacks.
• Background in financial systems, ledgering, treasury or related domains.
• Ability to define technical plans and deliver major features with clear execution steps.
• Comfort moving from low-level language details to system-level architecture.
• Proven ability to gather feedback and drive improvements across teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication for cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Set a year-long technical strategy for your team and align it with business projects.
• Collaborate across product, design and analytics to ensure sustainability and risk management.
• Champion technical solutions and operational processes as a force-multiplier for the team.
