Job summary

Newsela is seeking a Learning Experience Designer (LXD) specializing in ELA and multilingual learning to design and produce high-quality instructional materials for ELA/ELD products. You will craft standards-aligned lessons, texts, and assessments for multilingual learners, leveraging AI to scale content while preserving pedagogical rigor.

You will collaborate with ELA teams, provide editorial feedback, and ensure content aligns with state and national ELD standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in K12 curriculum development or instructional design focusing on multilingual learners.
• Ability to design standards-aligned ELD lessons, texts, and assessments.
• Strong written/editing skills with clear feedback for writers.

Responsibilities

• Design ELD scopes and sequences for secondary grades, selecting texts aligned to objectives.
• Write and structure prototype lessons and activities for multilingual learners.
• Develop formative and summative assessments with rubrics for language and content growth.
• Create scaffolds and translanguaging supports to ensure accessibility across proficiency levels.
• Iterate AI prompts to support lesson design and production.
