Job summary

Canonical is seeking a senior leader to guide a cross-disciplinary squad of People Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and UX Designers. You will translate HR questions into data products and drive outcomes through AI-enabled insights.

The role reports to the Global Head of Workplace Engineering and sits inside our Data discipline. You will shape the People Data Stack and champion data literacy across the organization.

Qualifications

• Background in data science, mathematics, or engineering.
• Strong coding in Python/R/JavaScript; proficient with SQL.
• Ability to translate business questions into research objectives and dashboards.
• Experience leading data-focused teams or squads.
• Willingness to travel 2–4 times a year for company events.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplinary squad of people data scientists, software engineers, and UX designers.
• Own product direction for People Science, aligning HR needs with software engineering deliverables.
• Develop predictive and prescriptive insights to improve attrition risk, engagement, and outcomes.
