Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a Lead Protection & Control Engineer to own design and integration of protection schemes for T&D substations and data centers. You will coordinate a design team, ensure relay settings, SCADA integration, and cyber security considerations, while meeting safety, quality, schedule and cost targets.

The role requires global attention to IEC 61850, communication protocols, and strong leadership as you drive technical solutions across projects and travel up to 20% for site work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 7 years of engineering experience, 5+ years in protection and controls for substations or power generation.
• P.E. License or EIT with willingness to pursue professional certification.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%, including international travel, per policy.

Responsibilities

• Design protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, and BESS applications.
• Lead local or remote design teams on panel/layout development and interconnect wiring.
• Evaluate interoperability and communications of IEDs, providing integrated protection solutions with SCADA and cyber security.
• Coordinate with SCADA, substation, and control design staff to achieve project specs, cost and schedule goals.
• Review studies, perform relay setting coordination, and lead factory/site testing and commissioning.
