Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a Lead Protection & Control Engineer to drive the design of protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, and BESS projects. You will lead a local or remote design team, ensuring panel layouts, interconnect wiring, and IEC 61850 integration meet safety, quality, and schedule goals.

The role requires 7+ years in engineering with 5+ in protection and controls, travel up to 20%, and collaboration across disciplines to deliver integrated protection, control, and monitoring

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited university.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in protection and controls engineering for substations or power generation.

Responsibilities

• Design protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, industrial, and BESS applications.
• Lead a local or remote design team for panel layouts and interconnect wiring.
• Evaluate interoperability and communication aspects of IEDs with SCADA, Cyber Security, and Telecom needs.
• Coordinate with SCADA engineers, physical engineers, and control design staff to achieve system integration.
• Lead or support factory acceptance testing, site testing, and commissioning.
• Define testing and outage procedures, perform RCA, and ensure process control.
