K&A Power Group in New Jersey is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer who can work remotely. You will lead the design and engineering of high voltage substations up to 500 kV, serve as the technical authority, mentor engineers, and coordinate with project teams and clients to ensure scope, schedule, and technical requirements are met.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, 8+ years of substation experience with leadership duties, and proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ETAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• PE license is strongly preferred for this leadership role.
• 8+ years of substation engineering experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of high voltage substation design, protection & control, and applicable standards.
• Experience with utilities, EPC firms, or large-scale power projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP or similar tools.
• Excellent communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel for site visits and office presence one day per week.

Responsabilités

• Lead design and engineering of substations up to 500 kV, including layout, protection & control, grounding, and equipment specs.
• Serve as the technical authority for substation deliverables, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Oversee and mentor engineers and designers; review work products.
• Coordinate with PMs, construction teams, and clients on scope and schedule.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
• Support field activities, site assessments, and commissioning.
• Ensure adherence to standards (NESC, IEEE, NEC) and company practices.
• Manage timelines, budgets, and resource planning; drive process improvements.
