Job summary

Fundrise is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to manage a team within our API Engineering group. This role drives the core investor application APIs for authentication, investing, account management, and more, supporting our investor web, iOS, and Android apps.

The ideal candidate writes code daily, sets technical direction, mentors engineers, and translates product and compliance requirements into robust software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
• 3+ years leading engineers: 1:1s, candid feedback, and owning delivery, quality, and growth.
• 4+ years building and maintaining production applications on AWS (ECS, CDK, S3, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB, WAF).
• Deep understanding of transactional database design and operations.
• Track record of improving existing systems in operationally complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a team of software engineers through effective weekly one-on-ones, deliberate delegation, and growth feedback.
• Own your team's delivery, breaking down work, coordinating across teams, and shipping against ambitious but achievable timelines.
• Hold the team to a high quality bar of production code, conducting thorough code reviews and making merge and deployment decisions.
• Drive design and architecture for Fundrise services and contribute to a long-term team roadmap.
• Partner with Product, Design, and other Engineering stakeholders across the organization to quickly implement complex functionality.
• Champion application security as a critical part of the work in a regulated financial services environment.
• Own production monitoring and triage across our services and third-party integrations.
