Telex, LLC is seeking a Lead Protection and Control Technician (Remote) to own commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting protective relaying schemes across generation, transmission, and distribution projects. This role emphasizes hands-on expertise and leadership in complex environments.

You will lead commissioning, installation, and testing of protective relays, DFRs, SCADA, and automation systems, ensuring safety and reliability on mission-critical projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years field experience in relay testing and substation commissioning.
• Expertise in three-phase power systems and protection schemes.
• Proficiency with Omicron, Doble, Vanguard test equipment.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

Responsabilités

• Lead commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, DFRs, SCADA systems, and automation systems.
• Perform advanced end-to-end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, and RTS.
• Execute functional and scheme testing: reclosing, breaker failure, advanced logic, and communication-assisted protection schemes.
• Troubleshoot and optimize protocols including DNP3, Modbus, 8979, using Wireshark, Accelerator, and ASE 2000.
• Develop and refine standardized commissioning and testing procedures.
• Mentor junior technicians and oversee field execution for safety and quality.
• Partner with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to deliver world-class reliability.
