Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Lead ML Infrastructure Engineer to own the end-to-end ML platform, spanning training, experiments, inference, and edge deployment across millions of devices. You will guide architecture, coordinate across Safety AI teams, and drive measurable safety and reliability outcomes.

You will lead design decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure platform scalability, security, and developer experience while advancing Samsara’s mission to improve operational safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in ML engineering with tech lead ownership across multiple ML platform domains.
• Ship ML-powered features end-to-end with measurable impact on product metrics.
• Hands-on Ray and Kubernetes in production environments; Spark experience preferred.
• Demonstrated cross-org technical leadership and influence on roadmap and go/no-go decisions.
• Experience with edge/on-device ML and firmware/embedded collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical strategy and own end-to-end delivery of Samsara's ML platform (training, experimentation, batch/online inference, edge).
• Drive design, launch, and iteration of Safety AI features with measurable safety, reliability, and cost outcomes at production scale.
• Design and operate scalable online and batch inference systems (Ray, Spark) and establish unified training-to-production workflows.
• Partner with firmware and edge teams to package, validate, and deploy models to Samsara devices.
• Own reliability, observability, and security for ML systems across cloud and edge, including on-call practices and incident response.
