Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Mine Geologist in a fully remote role. You will guide geological activities across active mining sites, optimize resource models, and ensure grade control accuracy from a home office.

With 8+ years in mine geology and strong modeling software experience, you will mentor staff and collaborate with remote and on-site teams, ensuring compliance with JORC/NI 43-101 standards.

Qualifications

• Requires MSc or PhD in Economic Geology, Mineral Exploration or related geoscience.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive mine geology experience with focus on resource estimation and grade control.
• Proven ability to model geological data and validate interpretations.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and remote collaboration skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for remote teams.
• Registration as Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee geological operations at active mine sites, including grade control and core logging.
• Develop, validate and refine geological models using Leapfrog, Vulcan, and Datamine.
• Ensure accuracy of resource estimations and classifications.
• Guide mine planning and production with geological insights.
• Identify exploration targets or extensions within/adjacent to operations.
• Mentor junior geologists and technicians remote or on-site.
• Ensure compliance with reporting standards and company policies.
• Analyze data to inform mine design and operations.
• Collaborate with on-site and remote multidisciplinary teams.
• Stay updated on modeling software and data analysis techniques.
