Placements24's client, a cutting-edge R&D firm in advanced materials, is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for a fully remote role in the United States. You will lead a team of engineers in designing, analyzing, and implementing innovative mechanical systems that leverage advanced materials, from concept to prototype testing.

The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science, 8+ years of experience in mechanical design and analyses, and demonstrated

Qualifications

• PhD or Master in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design and analysis focusing on advanced materials.
• Experience leading engineering teams and managing complex R&D projects.
• Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA) and advanced simulation tools (FEA, CFD).
• Strong communication and remote collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of systems and products using advanced materials.
• Oversee conceptualization, feasibility studies, and detailed design phases.
• Perform structural, thermal, and fatigue analyses using state-of-the-art tools.
• Specify and select advanced materials (composites, alloys, polymers).
• Mentor a remote team of mechanical engineers and foster collaboration.
• Develop and execute testing protocols for prototypes to validate performance and material integrity.
• Collaborate with R&D scientists, manufacturing engineers, and stakeholders via virtual platforms.
• Ensure designs meet performance, safety, reliability, and cost targets.
• Document research findings and design decisions thoroughly.
• Stay updated on advancements in mechanical engineering and materials science.
