Job summary

Ohio State University is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder 4 to train and support coding specialists, audit inpatient and outpatient records, and ensure accuracy of diagnoses and procedures. The role involves coding, abstracting data for the electronic medical record, and maintaining policy-aligned coding practices.

The candidate should have a health information management background with required coding certifications and several years of production coding experience in hospital settings.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of daily hospital coding production experience in inpatient or outpatient setting.
• RHIA or RHIT or CCS or COC with CHONC or CPC with CHONC certification is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train and support new medical record coding specialists.
• Audit coding of records to ensure accuracy and adherence to inpatient/outpatient policies.
• Code medical records at the conclusion of patient visits, selecting admitting diagnoses, principal/secondary diagnoses, and procedures.
• Abstract information for IHIS Resolute and ensure data integrity in the EMR.
