Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree in health information management or equivalent required.
• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/COC with CHONC or CCS/CPC certification preferred.
• Minimum two years of academic medical coding experience; four years of relevant experience required; six+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train and support new medical record coding specialists.
• Audit coding for accuracy and compliance with inpatient and outpatient policies.
• Maintain data integrity in the electronic medical record and coding abstracts.
• Code records including admissions, diagnoses, and procedures; participate in trauma registry.
• Abstract information such as admission source, disposition, and attending physicians.
