Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Lead Inpatient Coding Specialist to serve as the coding lead for the Inpatient Coding Supervisor, supporting daily coding activities, productivity monitoring, scheduling, and education. This role will train and mentor new coders and ensure compliance with coding guidelines.

Candidates should have 5+ years of ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding experience, with knowledge of MS-DRG/APC/MPFS, and relevant certifications. Remote opportunity, full-time, days.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding in acute care or professional services.
• Strong working knowledge of MS-DRG, APC, or MPFS/RVU payment methodologies.
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC, CIRCC or CIC certifications (or completion within 6 months of employment).
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, MS-DRG and RVU concepts; POA and HAC awareness.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Lead inpatient coding activities and act as primary trainer/mentor for new coders.
• Support Inpatient Coding Supervisor with productivity monitoring, scheduling, and audits.
• Review edits, charges, and follow-up on failed claims; support compliance and education.
