Job summary

Centene Corporation seeks a senior leader to oversee a team of Application Development Engineers responsible for large-scale software initiatives. You will guide design, development, testing, and deployment across enterprise systems, while coordinating with data modelers, architects, and SMEs to align business and technical goals.

The role requires 6+ years in software development, prior management experience, and strong knowledge of Agile, DevOps, and graph databases.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of related experience, including prior management experience.
• Experience with Application Development; Applications Architecture, DevOps industry best practices.
• Knowledge of Agile Software Development.
• Hands-on, technical background surrounding databases and data governance, ideally including knowledge of graph model databases.
• Healthcare payer, provider operations, or provider data management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees a team of Senior Application Development Engineers responsible for large-scale complex applications.
• Leads project scope, schedule, and budget planning and monitoring.
• Makes decisions based on progress and outcomes of applications.
• Establishes training and career development planning for developers.
• Oversees 3rd party development teams and holds vendors to standards and performance.
• Defines risk identification and mitigation processes.
• Communicates with Application and Infrastructure teams during service transitions.
• Partners with Security and SRE to follow change management policies.
• Leads design and development of PoC and prototype environments.
• Manages hiring and training, conducts performance reviews, and provides technical guidance.
• Delegates tasks to ensure stable operation of development activities.
• Provides knowledge to strengthen staff capabilities in application development and industry trends.
• Holds teams accountable to meet functional, quality, and timeline objectives.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
