Job description

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida, USA, with a technical support center in Southeast Asia and East Africa. The company provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate supports the US Department of Defense (DOD), its services (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps), and other US federal agencies with planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services globally.

The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the conceptual design, review, and stamping and sealing of drawings before submission to clients.

Our salary range for this position is from $125k to $130k per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key responsibilities :

  1. Develop, review, update, modify, and approve electrical design plans and work schedules.
  2. Lead construction inspections, quality control, and submittal reviews beyond the expertise of construction managers.
  3. Provide quality assurance for ongoing projects and mentor less experienced engineers.
  4. Support contract management and planning divisions with scope, programming, and scheduling.
  5. Develop cost estimates and time schedules; review and analyze preliminary and final designs, plans, and specifications for technical efficiency and adequacy.
  6. Perform detailed calculations to establish standards and specifications.
  7. Prepare correspondence, technical reports, contract documents, fact sheets, status reports, and final construction drawings for bidding.
  8. Inspect installations and observe operations to ensure compliance with design, equipment specifications, and safety standards.
  9. Utilize engineering software (AutoCAD, load analysis, coordination studies) for assigned tasks.
  10. Stay current with technical innovations in electrical engineering.
  11. Assist with recruitment, training, onboarding, and maintaining a safe work environment.
  12. Perform other related responsibilities as appropriate.

Qualifications :

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  2. Experience with US Government and military projects preferred.
  3. Licensed Professional Engineer required.
  4. Up to 10 years in construction management or design, preferably in power generation or UPS systems.
  5. Excellent communication, analytical, project management, planning, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  6. Strong understanding of construction practices; problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities; experience in electrical layout, inspection, and cost estimation.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit), and electrical systems (power, control switchgear, lighting, batteries, fire alarm).
  8. Knowledge of military programming rules is desirable.
  9. Willingness to travel internationally.
  10. Legal residence in the US and eligibility to work; ability to obtain a secret clearance.
