This position offers a hybrid work schedule, combining in-office and remote work.

Responsibilities
  1. Apply knowledge of protective relaying and control systems for HV and EHV substations, leading engineering and design teams on substation modifications and upgrades.
  2. Prepare relaying philosophies, select relay, control, and communication equipment, and develop SCADA and telecommunication configurations.
  3. Guide junior and senior engineers in protection and controls engineering design efforts, coordinating detailed design phases.
  4. Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve a variety of engineering issues.
  5. Design single line diagrams, relaying & metering diagrams, and D.C. schematic diagrams.
  6. Develop engineering studies for client and peer review.
  7. Review work performed by others, including calculations and drawings.
  8. Coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure complete and timely designs.
  9. Review existing facilities to propose upgrades and present findings.
  10. Engage in peer learning and knowledge sharing within the company’s communities of practice.
  11. Mentor less experienced engineers.
  12. Travel may be required for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification.
Qualifications
  1. BSEE with power systems or controls emphasis from an ABET-accredited program.
  2. 10+ years experience in protection/control/telecommunications for high voltage substations.
  3. PE license.
  4. Experience as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
  5. Experience with relay calculations and technical documentation.
  6. Proficiency with SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, CDEGS, or similar software.
  7. Knowledge of design codes and standards (NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI).
  8. Experience with protective relay equipment from vendors like SEL, ABB, GE, Areva, Basler.
  9. Proficiency in MS Office.
  10. Excellent communication skills.
Valued Skills (Not Required)
  1. Experience with in-line, bus, and equipment protection, SCADA systems, telemetering, and communications.
  2. AutoCAD or MicroStation experience.
  3. Construction and commissioning experience.
  4. Testing or startup experience.

Compensation Range

$109,410.00 - $168,770.00
