Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead Decision Intelligence Engineer to own production-grade decision intelligence capabilities for our NBA platform. You will model decisions, design agentic workflows, and govern AI systems while mentoring a small engineering team.

You will collaborate with product, decision science, and data science teams to turn complex processes into scalable AI solutions, with strong emphasis on governance and safety in a healthcare context.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
6+ years of software engineering, machine learning engineering, AI engineering, or decision intelligence experience.
1–2 years in a technical leadership capacity.
Strong Python engineering experience building and operating production AI systems.
Hands-on experience building agentic applications using LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI.
Experience integrating Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Vertex AI, OpenAI or similar enterprise AI platforms.
Strong understanding of Decision Intelligence concepts and optimization.
Experience implementing LLM application patterns: tool calling, structured outputs, RAG, memory, orchestration.
Experience building evaluation frameworks for AI systems.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor AI engineers; set engineering standards and reviews.
Architect and deliver decision intelligence capabilities across NBA platform.
Design agentic workflows with LangGraph/LangChain; enable multi-agent collaboration.
Integrate Azure OpenAI and enterprise AI models; ensure governance and traceability.
Collaborate with product, data science, and engineering to operationalize decisions.
