Job summary

Descript is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to own experimental design, PLG modeling, and analytics at the core of our product. This fully remote role within the United States places you as the founding analytics expert partnering with product managers, engineers, and growth leads to scale our platform, moving beyond dashboards to automated telemetry and scalable experiments.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional history in data science, product analytics, or quantitative research.
• At least 3 years in product growth, monetization, or conversion optimization.
• Masterful SQL writing and proficiency in Python or R.

Responsibilities

• Conduct foundational PLG strategy analyses to identify core user trends and activation pathways.
• Design, deploy, and analyze daily A/B tests and craft tracking scripts for multi-variant scenarios.
• Develop self-service analytics surfaces to empower stakeholders to measure opportunities.
• Establish governance for success metrics across cross-functional product loops.
• Write optimized SQL and build analytic workflows to evaluate product conversion and monetization.
• Promote company-wide data standards and statistical validation.
