Job summary

The Enterprise Data & Analytics Team at the American Red Cross is building out a team of full-stack Data Engineers to support mission-transforming work through data. We are hiring for a Lead Data Engineer to join a dynamic product team and help modernize our data architecture and reporting capabilities.

As Lead Data Engineer you will design, develop, test, maintain an enterprise data warehouse and scalable pipelines, mentor teammates, and work with AWS Redshift, modern data tooling, and

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree or equivalent in CS, Eng, Math, or related field.
• 10 years of relevant work experience in data engineering or BI.
• Experience with data warehouse design patterns (snowflake/star).
• Experience with AWS data services (Redshift, RDS, S3, EC2, EKS).
• Advanced SQL and complex data sets experience.
• Proficient in Python (OOP).
• DBT experience preferred.
• ETL/ELT development experience.
• Agile software development familiarity.
• Strong problem solving and documentation skills.
• DevOps practices with Git and artifact repositories.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models for BI tools.
• Build scalable solutions aligned to data governance and architecture roadmap.
• Design, develop and test data integration solutions; write and document tests.
• Manage automated deployments using Git pipelines and version control.
• Collaborate across teams to streamline deployment workflows and monitor pipelines.
• Perform data analysis to troubleshoot data issues and improve quality.
• Serve as tech lead, mentoring team members through code reviews and pairing.
