Job summary

The American Red Cross is hiring a Lead Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Data Analytics team. You will help modernize our data architecture, design scalable data pipelines, and oversee data warehouse development to support mission-critical reporting and analytics.

This 100% remote role is ideal for someone who thrives on data quality, automation, and mentoring teammates while coordinating with an East Coast schedule for offshore alignment.

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 10 years of relevant work experience in data engineering, business intelligence or related field.
• Experience with Snowflake and Star/Snowflake schema design patterns.
• Experience with AWS technologies (Redshift, RDS, S3, EC2, EKS, etc.).
• Advanced SQL skills for large-scale datasets and query optimization.
• Proficiency in Python; OO programming.
• DBT experience preferred.
• ETL/ELT development experience.
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong documentation skills and process orientation.
• Experience with DevOps tools (Git, Artifactory).
• Experience with multi-system integrations and APIs is a plus.
• Education + experience combine to meet requirements; management experience not substitutable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models for BI tools and drive data-driven decisions across the organization.
• Build scalable solutions aligned to data governance and architectural roadmap for data integrations, storage, reporting, and analytics.
• Design, develop and test data integration solutions; write and document unit/integration/functional tests.
• Manage automated deployments using Git pipelines with version control and deployment automation.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to streamline deployment workflows and monitor pipeline reliability and performance.
• Perform data analysis to troubleshoot data issues and build a data quality framework.
• Mentor junior team members through code reviews and hands-on guidance.
