Job summary

The American Red Cross is hiring a Lead Data Engineer to modernize and manage our enterprise data warehouse and analytics stack. You will architect scalable data pipelines, govern data quality, and guide best practices across teams.

This is a 100% remote role with occasional in-person meetings and East Coast scheduling. You will mentor engineers, design robust ETL/ELT processes, and drive value through data-driven decisions in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical field.
• 10 years of relevant work experience in data engineering, BI or related field.
• Experience with data warehouse schema design patterns (snowflake/star).
• Experience with AWS technologies (Redshift, RDS, S3, EC2, EKS).
• Advanced SQL and data handling for large-scale datasets; Python programming.
• Experience with ETL/ELT and data integration; Agile software methods.
• DevOps tooling and code repos (Git, Artifactory or equivalent).
• Ability to mentor team members and lead technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models for BI tools.
• Build scalable data solutions aligned to governance and architecture roadmap.
• Design, develop and test data integration, write and document tests.
• Manage automated deployments via Git pipelines and version control.
• Coordinate deployment workflows and monitor data pipelines for reliability.
• Perform data analysis to troubleshoot data issues and build quality framework.
• Serve as tech lead, mentoring team members through reviews and pairing.
