Job summary

Escape Velocity Entertainment seeks a Principal Combat Designer to create and refine combat systems for diverse characters, making the game more fun, challenging, and engaging.

You will collaborate with design, art and engineering leads to ensure alignment before implementing mechanics, advocate for the player experience, and craft weapons and abilities for a robust online multiplayer title.

Qualifications

• At least two shipped AAA titles with mechanics design experience.
• Expert knowledge of off-the-shelf design tools.
• Deep professional understanding of major mechanics and gameplay features.
• Strong creative and technical problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Design Director and Leads to drive combat design vision for online multiplayer.
• Design and craft expert combat mechanics, weapons and abilities.
• Communicate with art and engineering leads to align on mechanics before development.
• Advocate for the player and prioritize player experience in design decisions.
