Job summary

Aretum seeks a Lead Software Engineer/Developer to serve as the hands-on technical lead for a federal digital content program. You will design and develop Python and Django services, REST APIs, and ETL pipelines, while coordinating with government tech leads and peers.

You will guide a mid-level developer, ensure code quality and security, and work across AWS, Terraform, and CI pipelines in an Agile environment. Remote collaboration is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience and technical lead on Agile teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Proven ability to design and mentor on backend Python/Django services.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and unit testing of Python/Django backend services.
• Build REST APIs to support ETL, metadata exchange, and content management.
• Guide a mid-level developer and coordinate with government leads.
• Maintain security, quality, and maintainability of codebase.
• Design data models in PostgreSQL and tune queries for performance.
• Integrate with Java components and support AWS and CI pipelines.
