Job summary

Pearson is hiring a Lead Specialist- AI Scientist to design, build, deploy, and scale production AI/ML capabilities powering learner intelligence and personalized experiences. You will lead GenAI, LLM, RAG, and agentic AI solutions from concept through production, collaborating with product, engineering, design, and learning science teams.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on AI/ML delivery, cloud-native deployment experience, and strong Python/API/CI/CD skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience building production AI/ML systems.
• Experience with cloud-native AI deployments and MLOps.
• Proficiency in Python, APIs, CI/CD, and production operations.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud environments and scalable AI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, deployment, and operation of production AI capabilities across learner intelligence, personalization, and recommendations.
• Design and deliver GenAI, LLM, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic AI solutions with measurable impact.
• Build reusable AI platform components, services, APIs, and workflows to accelerate adoption.
• Own end-to-end AI delivery lifecycle from experimentation to production and monitoring.
• Establish scalable MLOps and AIOps practices for training, deployment, observability, governance, and reliability.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Design, Learning Science, and Data Science teams.
• Evaluate emerging AI tech and architectures while balancing quality, safety, scalability, latency, and cost.
• Establish best practices for responsible AI, model evaluation, prompt engineering, and AI governance.
• Mentor engineers and data scientists to elevate AI engineering capabilities.
• Communicate technical strategy and trade-offs to stakeholders.
