Job summary

Pearson seeks a Senior AI/ML Engineer to lead production AI capabilities including learner intelligence, personalization, recommendations, and knowledge graphs. You will design Generative AI, LLM, RAG, and agentic AI solutions and build reusable platform components with APIs and scalable workflows.

You will own the end-to-end AI delivery lifecycle and establish MLOps/AIOps for reliable, cost-efficient production systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and deploying production AI/ML systems.
• Strong experience with applied ML, Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, knowledge graphs or agentic AI.
• Hands-on experience with foundation models and modern AI frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python and API-focused software engineering practices.
• Experience designing scalable AI platforms and deployment architectures in AWS or similar.
• Experience with containerization, orchestration, IaC and production deployment practices.
• Ability to evaluate, monitor and optimize AI systems for quality, latency, and cost.
• Familiarity with OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, LangGraph, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, vector databases.
• Strong collaboration with product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, deployment, and operation of production AI capabilities for learner intelligence, personalization, recommendations, and knowledge graphs.
• Design and deliver Generative AI, LLM, RAG, and agentic AI solutions with measurable business impact.
• Build reusable AI platform components, services, APIs, and workflows to accelerate AI adoption.
• Own end-to-end AI delivery lifecycle from experimentation to deployment and monitoring.
• Establish scalable MLOps and AIOps practices for training, deployment, observability, governance and reliability.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Learning Science, and Data Science teams to identify opportunities.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and architectures while balancing quality, safety, latency, scalability, and cost.
• Establish best practices for responsible AI, model evaluation, prompt engineering, and governance.
• Mentor engineers and data scientists to elevate AI engineering capabilities.
• Communicate strategy, architecture decisions, trade-offs, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders.
