Job summary

Humana is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design and codify software applications powering Centerwell's AI solutions, including LLM-powered tools and RAG workflows. You will own the end-to-end architecture and oversee testing and debugging.

The role emphasizes HIPAA compliance, Responsible AI practices, and collaboration with product teams, clinicians, and data stakeholders to deliver scalable AI features across care delivery.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
• 8+ years of software engineering, with 4+ years in production AI/ML systems.
• Hands-on experience with large language models and orchestration frameworks.
• Proficient in Python and TypeScript; strong ML tooling knowledge.
• Experience designing and deploying RAG pipelines and vector search systems.
• Experience building multi-agent AI systems and orchestrations.
• HIPAA awareness and PHI handling experience.
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Hands-on AI coding harnesses (Claude Code, Pi Agent, Cursor, Codex).

Responsibilities

• Architect and own end-to-end AI system architecture for Centerwell tools and workflows.
• Develop and fine-tune foundation models; create evaluation frameworks.
• Collaborate with product, clinicians, and data stakeholders to translate care workflows into AI features.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and Responsible AI; participate in AIRB/Responsible AI reviews.
