Job summary

EMC Insurance is seeking a Large Accounts Underwriter to manage a defined territory and drive profitable growth by evaluating complex commercial risks and developing tailored coverage solutions.

You will partner with agents, negotiate terms, and serve as a trusted resource on EMC's Large Accounts capabilities, influencing portfolio performance, growth, and long-term underwriting success. This remote role supports RI/PA residents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance or business, or equivalent experience.
• Five years of commercial underwriting experience.
• Experience with large accounts ($500K+ premium) and complex risk.
• CPCU designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a profitable Large Accounts portfolio within assigned authority.
• Evaluate complex multi-line accounts for pricing and coverage.
• Apply underwriting guidelines using loss history, financial data, risk control reports, and pricing tools.
• Maintain underwriting documentation for compliance.
• Negotiate underwriting terms, conditions, and pricing for Large Account business.
• Build relationships with brokers and agents to drive growth.
• Educate agency partners on EMC's Large Accounts appetite and systems.
• Conduct agency visits to discuss opportunities, account performance, and market updates.
• Partner with leadership on agency strategy and business development initiatives.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, and leadership to optimize portfolio performance.
• Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and industry developments.
