Lifeway is seeking a Remote Content Editor to edit short‑term kids studies, ensuring theological soundness and alignment with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000, while partnering with authors and ministry leaders to shape trusted resources.

This high‑impact role requires deep theological knowledge, strong writing instincts, and a commitment to serving the Church, with remote‑eligible work within the U.S. and occasional travel to Nashville for key gatherings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Childhood Development, English, Biblical Studies, or a related field (required).
• Master's degree in Education, Theology, Biblical Studies, or a related field (preferred).
• Advanced graduate degree (PhD, etc.) (not required).
• 5+ years of editorial or content development experience.
• 3+ years of kids ministry related experience (part‑time church staff, teaching ministry, volunteering or similar).
• Editing expertise across manuscript review, theological accuracy, and instructional design.
• Strong editorial judgment aligned with Scripture and the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
• Clear written and verbal communication when partnering with authors, contributors, and cross‑functional teams.
• Attention to detail and ability to independently manage multiple overlapping editorial projects.
• Content creation skills including rewriting, and curriculum framework development.
• Digital literacy and familiarity with publishing workflows across print and digital formats.
• Actively involved in an evangelical Christian church.
• Knowledge of Southern Baptist church culture and ministry structures.
• Ability to travel to the Middle Tennessee area 2‑4 times annually for team gatherings.

Responsibilities

• Lives out Lifeway’s mission and values, showing deep commitment to Kingdom work.
• Develops and oversees Kids Short‑Term resources pipeline, assisting manager in project management.
• Perform substantive editing to ensure theological accuracy, biblical fidelity, and alignment with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 across all assigned resources.
• Identifies, recruits, enlists, and coordinates outside Bible Study writers to develop fresh content for resources.
• Leads editorial effort on all projects and edits content according to style and branding guidelines for verification of content accuracy, instructional soundness, and relevance to target audience.
• Develops and invests in relationships with Lifeway customers, engaging in conversations with church leaders to listen, encourage, and discover ways to develop resources based on relevant church practices and customer needs.
• Apply Lifeway style and grammar standards, make copyfitting decisions, and ensure excellence in readability and accuracy across formats.
• Participate in planning meetings, ministry conversations, and cross‑team discussions to contribute editorial insight and advance divisional goals.
• Limited travel: 2‑4 times per year, typically overnight.
