Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. seeks a Joint Use Designer for a REMOTE WORK role. This position supports the pole attachment and joint-use design processes within the Utility Services Department.

Responsibilities include preparing construction documents, making-ready designs, cost estimates, and field support while ensuring QA/QC and adherence to safety standards. Domestic remote opportunities are available with occasional client site visits.

Qualifications

• - High School Diploma or GED with 3+ years of fieldwork or construction experience.
• - Or an Associate Degree with 0-2 years of experience with interest in fieldwork/surveying.
• - Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 0-2 years preferred.
• - Prior utility design or make-ready design experience preferred.
• - Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/schematics.
• - Working knowledge of electrical distribution assets and/or communication equipment construction.
• - Experience with pole loading software or AutoCAD is beneficial.
• - Knowledge of SPANS, NJUNS, IkeGPS for make-ready engineering.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction documents including plan and profile drawings for overhead and underground electric distribution, fiber optics, and telecom facilities.
• Prepare make-ready work for joint use projects.
• Assist in engineering estimates and execution schedules.
• Provide field support during construction.
• QA/QC reviews of work and adherence to processes.
• Analyze field data and update software packages for design.
• Communicate project status with management and clients.
• Travel as needed for project assignments.
