Job summary

Blu Omega Inc. is seeking a Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain secure, reliable Java applications supporting VA health IT programs.

This remote role requires building enterprise-grade software within a federal context, with emphasis on secure coding and integration projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver reliable releases, implement tests, and support CI/CD pipelines across environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise apps.
• Experience with APIs and system integrations.
• Experience with automated testing, source control, code reviews, and CI/CD.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting across app and integration environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain government credentials including a PIV.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, maintain, and enhance Java applications and integrations throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into secure, maintainable, and well-tested application code.
• Develop and support APIs, system integrations, data validation, logging, and secure error-handling capabilities.
• Create and maintain automated tests to improve application quality and support reliable releases.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, debugging, and defect resolution.
• Support CI/CD processes and deployments across application environments.
• Troubleshoot application and integration issues and provide production support as needed.
• Identify technical risks and recommend practical improvements to application reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation supporting application functionality, integrations, and operational processes.
• Collaborate with analysts, architects, testers, DevSecOps engineers, product owners, and stakeholders in an Agile environment.
