Job summary

Blu Omega LLC is seeking a Java Developer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health IT programs. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining secure Java applications for mission-critical healthcare and federal technology initiatives.

The position is remote with Public Trust eligibility required. You will collaborate with analysts, architects, testers, DevSecOps engineers, and product owners in an Agile environment to deliver reliable software solutions.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional software development experience using Java or a closely related technology stack.
Experience developing or supporting APIs and system integrations.
Experience with automated testing, source control, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across application and integration environments.
Understanding of secure coding practices and modern software development lifecycle methodologies.
Ability to obtain and maintain required government credentials, including a PIV.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, maintain, and enhance Java applications and integrations throughout the software development lifecycle.
Translate functional and technical requirements into secure, maintainable, and well-tested application code.
Develop and support APIs, system integrations, data validation, logging, and secure error-handling capabilities.
Create and maintain automated tests to improve application quality and support reliable releases.
Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, debugging, and defect resolution.
Support CI/CD processes and deployments across application environments.
Troubleshoot application and integration issues and provide production support as needed.
Identify technical risks and recommend practical improvements to application reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.
Develop and maintain technical documentation supporting application functionality, integrations, and operational processes.
Collaborate with analysts, architects, testers, DevSecOps engineers, product owners, and stakeholders in an Agile environment
