Job summary

Emend Healthcare is seeking a mid‑level IT Systems Engineer II to join the Information Technology team. You will support and administer VMware, Windows, Linux systems, cloud infrastructure, and applications across distributed sites.

You will be a hands‑on, broad generalist who handles end‑user support, security, backups, and on‑call rotations in a 24/7 environment. A strong healthcare IT background and HIPAA awareness are valued.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on systems administration in a production environment.
• Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365; virtualization (VMware) required.
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Storage (SAN/NAS), backup and disaster-recovery concepts.
• Experience with Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS.
• Networking fundamentals with Cisco Meraki/UniFi.
• Willingness to work across systems, networking, end-user support.
• HIPAA familiarity in healthcare IT.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent certifications accepted in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day administration, monitoring, and performance of VMware, Windows, Linux systems, cloud infra (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
• Share ownership of end-user support queue; handle escalations and provide training.
• Administer Windows Server, AD/Group Policy, Microsoft 365/Entra ID, Intune/SCCM in a VMware/CentOS environment.
• Perform OS administration, patching, security hardening, backups, and storage management.
• Ensure DR capabilities meet service levels; test recovery regularly.
• Maintain and support HIPAA controls and PHI safeguards; document policies and procedures.
