Job summary

Portage Learning Careers in the United States seeks a part-time Contract SME to author an Introduction to Information Technology course. You will develop 8 asynchronous modules, craft aligned assessments, and collaborate with our Instructional Design team to build engaging, standards-aligned content for undergraduate and general education students.

The role includes hands-on experiences in networking, databases, cybersecurity, and Python scripting, with potential on-camera delivery.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in IT/CS/Cybersecurity or related field is required.
Experience teaching IT or CS at introductory/novice level is strongly preferred.
Strong academic writing skills in English and ability to write engaging asynchronous lessons.
Experience creating assessments aligned to learning outcomes.
Comfort with adapting OERs and existing texts.

Responsibilities

Author content for 8 asynchronous modules aligned to course objectives.
Create 1 lab or simulation for each module.
Develop 6 alternate versions per question for assessments.
Develop assessments aligned to CLOs with rationale notes.
Draft lecture slides following Portage templates.
Identify 2–3 high-value concepts per module for interactive reinforcement.
Collaborate with Instructional Design, Production, Accessibility, and Editorial teams.
Provide final written module scripts/content and problem sets.
