Job summary

Portage Learning is seeking a Subject Matter Expert to author eight online macroeconomics modules and develop aligned assessments for an introductory economics course. You will collaborate with the Instructional Design team to ensure standards alignment and learner-friendly content.

The SME may also teach the course on camera. A Master’s degree and strong English writing skills are required; this is a part-time/contract, fully remote position with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in economics, business administration or related field.
• Experience teaching economics at introductory/novice level (college or adult learners preferred).
• Strong academic writing skills in English; ability to write engaging, student-friendly asynchronous lessons.
• Experience creating assessments aligned to learning outcomes.
• Comfort working with OER and/or adapting existing texts responsibly.

Responsibilities

• Author 8 asynchronous macroeconomics modules aligned to course learning objectives.
• Create assessments and 6-version question banks per item.
• Draft lecture slides and accompanying materials following Portage standards.
• Collaborate with Instructional Design, Production, Accessibility, and Editorial teams.
• Identify 2–3 high-value concepts per module for interactive reinforcement.
• Possibility of on-camera delivery for teaching the course.
