Job summary

BARK is seeking an Inventory Cost Accounting Manager to own inventory and COGS accounting for multiple fulfillment and manufacturing partners. You will lead a team of accountants, ensuring accurate close, strong controls, and insightful reporting to Finance and Operations.

You will apply deep inventory knowledge, automate processes, and collaborate with Purchasing, Fulfillment, Logistics, FP&A, and systems teams. This role is fully remote within the United States.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in inventory and cost accounting for consumer products, retail, or direct-to-consumer businesses.
• Hands‑on knowledge of inventory valuation, COGS, landed costs, reserves, and reconciliations.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and SOX controls in a public company environment.
• Experience leading and developing accountants, balancing hands‑on work with team management.
• Experience with ERP systems and inventory management applications.

Responsibilities

• Own inventory and COGS accounting across 3PL warehouses and manufacturing partners.
• Deliver a clean, on-time monthly inventory close and report drivers of COGS and gross margin.
• Maintain audit-ready controls, review journals, oversee counts, and support audits.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants with clear priorities.
• Improve inventory accounting through automation, data accuracy, and better processes.
