Job summary

BARK is hiring an Inventory Cost Accounting Manager to own inventory and COGS accounting across our 3PL warehouses and manufacturing partners. This role reports to the Controller and leads a team of accountants, ensuring accurate valuation and timely close.

You will partner with Purchasing, Fulfillment, Logistics, FP&A and systems teams to improve data accuracy, reduce manual work, and implement automation and AI-enabled tools while maintaining US GAAP and SOX compliance.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in inventory and cost accounting in consumer products, retail, manufacturing, or D2C business.
• Knowledge of inventory valuation, COGS, landed costs, reserves, and reconciliations.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and SOX controls in a public company environment.
• Experience leading and developing accountants.
• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
• Strong analytical skills to investigate discrepancies and explain movements to partners.
• Track record of improving processes through automation and data-driven workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own inventory and COGS accounting across 3PL warehouses and manufacturing partners, ensuring accurate inventory valuation and financial reporting.
• Deliver a clean, on-time monthly inventory close and provide a clear read on COGS and gross margin, including reserves and variances.
• Keep inventory audit-ready with tight controls; review journal entries and reconciliations, oversee counts, and support audits.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants with clear priorities and timely delivery of results.
• Improve inventory accounting through better data accuracy, automation, and AI-enabled tools.
