Job summary

Alliance Resource Group is partnering with a growing consumer business to recruit a Director of Accounting focused on inventory and cost accounting. This leader will own inventory valuation across materials, WIP, finished goods and distribution, ensuring accuracy and strong internal controls across multiple channels and geographies.

The role requires CPA, 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership, deep knowledge of landed costs, margins and ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)

• Deep inventory and cost accounting experience within apparel, retail, e-commerce or a comparable consumer business.
• Experience supporting DTC, wholesale and retail channels across multiple entities and geographies.

Responsibilities

• Own inventory valuation across raw materials, work in progress, finished goods, retail and in-transit inventory.
• Ensure accurate capitalization of freight, duties and other landed costs.
• Maintain costing methodologies, bill-of-materials governance and product cost integrity.
• Lead inventory aging, obsolescence and reserve analyses.
• Investigate inventory and COGS discrepancies and explain gross-margin movements.
• Oversee inventory close activities, reconciliations and audit support.
• Improve accounting policies, internal controls and ERP workflows.
• Develop the team and partner with Supply Chain, Planning, Production, Distribution and FP&A.

Director, Accounting — Inventory & Cost Location: Vernon, CA | Hybrid, three days onsite per week Compensation: $185,000–$220,000 base + 15% bonus eligibility Alliance Resource Group is partnering with a growing consumer business to identify a Director of Accounting with deep inventory and cost accounting expertise. This leader will own inventory accounting across a complex supply chain and multiple sales channels, bringing greater accuracy, visibility and control to inventory valuation, landed costs, reserves and gross margins. The role requires someone who can lead the function while remaining close to the underlying transactions and operational issues.

What you’ll do

• Deep inventory and cost accounting experience within apparel, retail, e-commerce or a comparable consumer business.
• Experience supporting DTC, wholesale and retail channels across multiple entities and geographies.
• Strong landed-cost, reserve, costing and margin-analysis capabilities.
• Familiarity with international inventory flows and multi-currency complexity.
• Public-company controls and reporting exposure.
• NetSuite strongly preferred, along with advanced Excel skills.
• Relevant consumer inventory experience is essential.
• Candidates should bring experience beyond manufacturing or plant costing alone.
