Ohio State University seeks a Remote Intermittent Interpreter to support students who are Deaf or hard of hearing in academic settings, meetings with faculty and staff, and for university programming. Hours are remote and may include evenings and weekends.
The role requires a Bachelor's degree or NAD-RID certification, completion of an Interpreter Training Program, proficiency in ASL including Academic ASL, and a high register of English.
Job Title: Remote Intermittent Interpreter Department: Student Life | Disability Services-JM Intermittent Interpreter, Student Life Disability Services works as needed to provide interpreting services for students or prospective students who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing to ensure appropriate accommodations in academic settings, in meetings with faculty and staff, and for public university programming. May work some evening and weekend hours. All hours worked will be remote.
Qualifications: Required: Bachelor’s degree or NAD-RID certification; completion of an Interpreter Training Program from an accredited institution; proficiency in ASL, including Academic ASL; mastery of a high register of the English language, including spelling, grammar, and extensive vocabulary; ability to match the language style of the consumers and the setting; ability to work a flexible work schedule to include evening and weekend hours; successful completion of a background check. Desired: Master’s degree; significant post-secondary interpreting experience.
