Job summary

Sonoran Desert Institute is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to join our Curriculum Team. This remote role focuses on designing online courses, updating content, and developing assessments for distance education in a DEAC-accredited program.

You will collaborate with subject matter experts, QA staff, and other designers to create engaging, accessible course materials and ensure alignment with learning objectives. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of professional experience in instructional design.
• Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles and distance instruction.
• Practical experience with learning management systems and course-authoring software.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze learning needs and define objectives for online courses.
• Create course blueprints, curricula maps, and design documents for distance education.
• Develop engaging online course materials, including multimedia elements and assessments.
• Build course shells and modules in the LMS using authoring tools.
• Source external resources and ensure proper citation and accessibility compliance.
