Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient diagnoses and procedures using ICD codes in medical records.
• Ensure accurate DRG assignment by ranking diagnoses and procedures correctly.
• Obtain information as needed from clinicians or staff to support coding.
• Enter final codes and narratives into the coding system and databases.
• Provide information in response to inquiries about documentation and DRGs from hospital staff.
• Abstract information from records to compile reports and statistics.
• Record data such as admission, discharge dates, length of stay, and treatments in the system.
