Job summary

TMCH seeks an inpatient facility coder to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS codes with adherence to UHDDS standards and DRG/APC guidance. The role uses 3M 360, CAC and Epic to ensure accurate coding and revenue integrity.

The ideal candidate has 5 years of acute care coding experience and RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CPC certifications, with understanding of MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs, and strong detail orientation.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year college or technical school curriculum in Health Information Management.
• Five years of acute care hospital coding experience.
• RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCS-P/CPC/CIC/COC certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT or HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures substantiated by documentation.
• Code inpatient or outpatient records; outpatient coding may require 4 categories independently.
• Follow departmental and official coding guidelines for accuracy.
• Utilize 3M 360, CAC, Epic and other applications for proper coding.
• Ensure documentation supports accurate coding and appropriate reimbursement; request clarifications when information is incomplete.
• Determine the sequence of diagnoses according to UHDDS standards.
• Input abstract data and codes into computer systems for reporting to regulators, payers and physicians.
• Maintain current knowledge of coding principles and guidelines; achieve 95% coding accuracy and 95% weekly productivity.
• Review charts returned by payers for challenges.
