Job summary

Lehighbar seeks an experienced Inpatient Facility Coder to join our Health Information Management team in Tucson, AZ. The coder will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT or HCPCS codes with accuracy to support compliant patient records and reimbursement.

Requirements include a 2-year HIM program, 5 years acute care coding experience, and RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCS-P/CPC/CIC/COC certifications. Proficiency with UHDDS sequencing and DRG/APC concepts is essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year college curriculum in Health Information Management or equivalent experience.
• Five (5) years of acute care hospital coding experience required.
• Certifications such as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CIC or COC are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assigns the correct ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT or HCPCS codes to each diagnosis or procedure based on documentation.
• Code inpatient or outpatient records; outpatient coding may include emergency, same-day surgery, observation, pain clinic, wound clinic, diagnostics, or recurring accounts.
• Follow current coding guidelines to ensure accurate data and reimbursement; utilize 3M 360, CAC, Epic and other applications as needed.
• Provide clarifications to providers when information is incomplete and assist staff with coding and DRG/APC questions.
• Determine diagnosis sequence per UHDDS; input data into the system for regulatory and billing purposes.
• Maintain knowledge of coding principles and hospital policies; strive for 95% accuracy and 95% weekly productivity.
