Qualifications

• Current AHIMA or AAPC credential maintained throughout performance.
• At least two years of continuous professional coding experience in a VA-level healthcare or equivalent setting.
• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT/HCPCS, E/M coding and provider queries.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes with appropriate sequencing.
• Code related professional, surgical, and ancillary services using CPT/HCPCS and E/M requirements.
• Abstract diagnoses, procedures and data elements; submit compliant provider queries when documentation is incomplete.
