Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Remote Inpatient Medical Coder to review emergency department records and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes. The role includes determining facility E/M levels and ensuring complete charge capture, while maintaining compliance with CMS, NCCI edits, and payer requirements.

This is a fully remote contract position based out of Tampa, FL with a pay range of $25.00–$30.00 per hour. Benefits eligibility and eligibility-based perks may apply.

Qualifications

• Review emergency department records to assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes.
• Determine facility E/M levels according to ED guidelines and ACEP tool.
• Analyze documentation from nursing staff, physicians, and ancillary departments to ensure complete coding and charge capture.
• Apply CMS guidelines, NCCI edits, and payer-specific requirements.
• Review accounts for appropriate procedural services and injections/infusions when applicable.
• Identify documentation deficiencies and communicate needs for clarification.
• Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and organizational policies.
• Participate in coding quality reviews, audits, and process improvements.
• Remain current on coding updates, reimbursement changes, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with coding leadership, auditors, and client representatives to resolve issues.
