Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a contract ED coder to review emergency department records and assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses, CPT/HCPCS procedures, and modifiers. The role includes determining facility E/M levels using client guidelines and the ACEP tool, ensuring complete charge capture and payer compliance.

The candidate will analyze documentation across departments, stay current with coding updates, and collaborate with leadership to resolve issues. Fully remote, contract-based with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Review ED records to assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes.
• Assign facility E/M levels per guidelines and ACEP tool.
• Analyze documentation to ensure complete code assignment and charge capture.
• Apply CMS regulations, NCCI edits, and payer-specific requirements.
• Review procedures and injections/infusions when applicable.

Responsibilities

• Review ED medical records for accurate coding and billing.
• Ensure correct E/M levels per guidelines and ACEP tool.
• Collaborate with clinicians and departments to resolve coding issues.
• Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid and payer policies.
• Participate in quality reviews and process improvements.
