Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking an Inpatient Coder 3 Certified to review inpatient documentation and assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and ICD-10-PCS procedures using CAC/encoder. You will ensure accurate DRG assignments and collaborate with CDS and other departments to optimize reimbursement.

This is a 100% remote, full-time role with 40 hours weekly. Qualifications include an Associate's Degree or equivalent, CCS certification, and 2–3 years of inpatient coding in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Two to three years of progressive on-the-job experience in an acute care hospital.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required and maintained thereafter.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS, UHDDS, DRG methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Applies anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and terminology to assign diagnosis/procedure codes for complex accounts.
• Analyzes medical records using UHDDS and assigns ICD-10-CM diagnoses and ICD-10-PCS codes with CAC/encoder and reference materials.
• Reviews DRG assignments and enters coded information into software, analyzes DRG groupings, ensuring correct DRG.
• Codes high-dollar and complex cases including medical, surgical, behavioral health, IP Rehabilitation.
• Applies IRF-PAI guidelines for IP Rehabilitation coding and adheres to coding standards and guidelines.
• Meets revenue cycle goals and daily case review of edits.
